Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials has introduced the new designation NU for its high-performance engineering polymers developed specifically for the nuclear energy sector.
These grades are certified to meet the stringent PMUC (Produits et Matériaux Utilisables en Centrales) requirements set by French utility EDF for materials used in nuclear power plants.
The Japanese group explained that recent updates to EDF’s specifications required a revision of formulations, new testing and enhanced product labeling to ensure full alignment with the standards, full safety and reliable performance.
The NU designation now provides clear and unambiguous identification of materials approved for nuclear applications, enabling seamless integration with EDF systems and guaranteed compatibility.
The NU range includes grades based on polyetheretherketone, polyoxymethylene copolymer (POM-C), polyamide 6 and 66, PET and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.
