piaceplast film for packagingPiaceplast, an Italy-based company led by Cristiano Cella, has launched a new generation of 100% PET LID films, developed using an internationally patented proprietary technology. The company aims to set new production, mechanical and functional benchmarks in the packaging sector, positioning the solution as a reference in both sustainability and performance.

PPWR READY. Designed in line with eco-design principles and fully compliant with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the Piacenza-based company’s mono-material films contain more than 80% post-consumer recycled PET sourced from plastic waste.
The films are recyclable at end of life while ensuring process stability and seal integrity.
According to the company, the result is an innovative and responsible solution that combines high performance with sustainability, meeting the packaging industry’s most recent and stringent requirements.
The patented process enables the production of high-performance films with enhanced mechanical and physico-chemical properties, high optical transparency, superior gloss and an high efficienty barrier. These characteristics make them suitable for food, medical and pharmaceutical packaging, as well as hobby applications.
piaceplast films From an environmental standpoint, the films are designed to reduce the use of virgin raw materials, lower CO2 emissions and promote more efficient resource use. They also help reduce reliance on materials sourced from outside the EU, in line with European policy objectives.

IN PAIRING WITH RESPECT SYSTEMS. Piaceplast’s LID films can be combined with containers and trays produced using the Respect system, a technology developed and internationally patented by Italian company Siropack, resulting in a mono-material, fully recyclable packaging solution. The system delivers sealing performance between tray and lidding film that exceeds food industry safety standards, helping to protect product shelf life.
Machine efficiency is also improved thanks to the low sealing temperature, while the film’s shrink properties ensure a taut, flat pack at the end of the line.
The recent joint participation of Siropack and Piaceplast at K2025 in Düsseldorf highlighted market interest in the tray-with-adhesive and mono-material PET film system. During the trade fair, the companies signed exclusive memoranda of understanding with potential customers in Europe and the United States.

LIDCycle recycling programRECYCLING INDUSTRIALI TRIMS WITH LIDCycle. To support closed-loop recycling, Piaceplast has developed LIDCycle, a programme for collecting and reprocessing trim generated during packaging operations. Once recovered, the material is converted into new raw material and reused to produce new LID films, creating an integrated recycling loop.
The initiative is intended to implement a fully closed-loop model, complementing the development of the 100% PET mono-material LID film containing 80% post-consumer recycled content.
