LyondellBasell announced that it had opened consultations with trade unions ahead of the planned permanent shutdown by year-end of the polypropylene production unit (PP2) at the Brindisi petrochemical site in southern Italy, the same hub where Versalis shut down its cracker last year.
The decision, the company said, follows an in-depth assessment of the site’s surrounding infrastructure and critical raw material supply.
