New life for Dyneon

The Bavarian fluoropolymer specialist is leaving 3M and preparing to return to global markets under Capmont ownership.

July 7, 2026 10:56

Dyneon Gendorf Chemical ParkSwiss private equity firm Capmont has acquired Dyneon, the Bavarian subsidiary of 3M Group.
The company specialises in the production of high-performance fluoropolymers and operates a plant at the Gendorf Chemical Park (pictured), with around 400 employees and annual production capacity of 18,000 tonnes.

Dyneon’s fluoropolymer specialties - PTFE and FKM and FFKM fluoroelastomers - are used in semiconductors, medical technologies, batteries for electric vehicles, aerospace and energy applications.

The transaction is part of 3M’s commitment to exit all PFAS-related activities. Under this plan, the US group had initially intended to close the German site, which it acquired from Hoechst in 1999.

Capmont has committed to keeping the Gendorf production site in operation and will work closely with Dyneon’s management to restart and increase production. The company is targeting revenues of more than €300 million with a workforce of over 500 employees.

According to the Swiss financial firm, the global fluoropolymer market is estimated at $8-9 billion, with an average annual growth rate of around 4%.

“The partnership with Capmont marks the beginning of a new chapter for Dyneon,” said Burkhard Anders, Managing Director of Dyneon. “With the right ownership structure and a committed industrial base at Gendorf Chemical Park, we are well positioned to leverage the deep expertise of our team and build on our strong market presence to bring Dyneon back to global markets, reconnect with customers and re-establish the Company as a leading player in its industry.”
