During the annual European Bioplastics Conference (EBC24), currently taking place in Berlin, the industry association European Bioplastics provided an update on market data. The information, contained in the Market Data Report, was developed in collaboration with the German consultancy nova-Institute.

Although growing at a slower pace than the market’s potential, global bioplastics production capacity continues to expand, rising from 2 million tonnes last year to an estimated 2.5 million tonnes in 2024, with projections reaching approximately 5.73 million tonnes by 2029. This development is driven by rising demand combined with the emergence of ever more sophisticated applications and products.
