Catia Bastioli, CEO of Novamont (Versalis, ENI), has received significant international recognition by being inducted into the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) for her contributions to the field of bioplastics and the circular economy.

The Italian executive is among 22 new international members admitted this year, alongside 128 U.S. engineers selected for this prestigious honor.

The official induction ceremony will take place on Oct. 5, 2025, during the NAE's annual meeting.

Becoming a member of the National Academy of Engineering is one of the highest professional distinctions in the field, reserved for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to engineering through pioneering innovations, research, education, professional practice, and leadership.
NAE members include some of the world's most distinguished engineers from industry, academia, and government institutions. Among them, only five are Italian, and this year, Catia Bastioli is the sole Italian inductee.

Founded in 1964, the National Academy of Engineering is a private, independent, nonprofit institution that provides expertise for projects focused on the relationship between engineering, technology, and quality of life. It has more than 2,000 peer-elected members, including international professionals from the corporate, academic, and governmental sectors, recognized as leading experts in the engineering field.
