At the ongoing Plastics Recycling Show in Amsterdam, Schoeller Allibert is presenting a reusable transport and logistics crate made with up to 50% polyAl—the non-cellulosic fraction composed of aluminum and polyethylene laminate used as an oxygen and moisture barrier layer in Tetra Pak beverage cartons.
Each crate contains the equivalent of approximately 200 beverage cartons.
The remaining 50% of the material is also recycled, sourced from other streams.
The crates are designed to meet the highest industrial standards in terms of performance and durability, while offering a reduced carbon footprint by avoiding virgin plastics.
Pending large-scale deployment, the crates are currently undergoing rigorous field testing to assess their quality and resistance. Once validated, Tetra Pak—which supplies Schoeller Allibert with the polyAl—plans to gradually replace more than 50,000 crates currently used at its global spare parts distribution center in Lund, Sweden.
Schoeller Allibert is also engaging other potential customers interested in using this material for reusable transport packaging.

Recycled material from beverage cartons is already being used at Tetra Pak’s Lund site for indoor and outdoor furniture.
