Bavarian company Tubis has inaugurated its first chemical recycling plant for mixed plastic waste in Plauen, Saxony.
The facility, which uses a proprietary continuous pyrolysis technology, is currently undergoing commissioning tests and is expected to reach full operational capacity in the third quarter of this year.
Tubis aims to rapidly scale up its technology across multiple sites in Germany.
In addition to the Plauen plant, construction is underway in Nobitz, Thuringia, where a second facility with identical processing capabilities is being built.
Both the Plauen and Nobitz plants are designed to handle 24,500 tonnes of plastic waste per year. Meanwhile, permitting is in progress for two more facilities of the same capacity in Ochtrup and Borken, further expanding Tubis’ footprint in the country’s chemical recycling landscape.
