Just days before drinktec opens its doors, Sidel unveiled its latest innovation: the EvoBLOW Laser. This new blowing machine replaces halogen lamps with a laser source, able to deliver up to 36 heating lines compared with the eight zones typical of conventional solutions. The result is far more precise thermal distribution during the preform heating stage.

According to the company, this precision enables the production of lighter yet stronger PET bottles, as manufacturers can now fine-tune wall thickness throughout the container.

The technology also benefits premium bottles, thanks to the creation of so-called “power rings”—microscopic, invisible reinforcement rings that strengthen the structure while improving aesthetics and reducing material consumption. Unlike traditional geometric ribs, these features are invisible to consumers, yet they enhance both design freedom and bottle performance. Lightweighting is also now possible in previously inaccessible areas, such as directly beneath the bottle neck.

Now EvoBLOW Laser will reshape the industry again, setting a new standard for line efficiency and opening new lightweighting possibilities.”

Unlike halogen ovens, which are sensitive to ambient conditions and require frequent recalibration, laser heating remains stable regardless of environmental changes. Each preform, from the first to the last, receives the exact thermal profile required, ensuring consistent quality without downtime.

Another advantage: The laser oven is always ready. With cold-start capability, it eliminates warm-up and standby requirements, cutting downtime at every stop and start. The system also supports real-time speed modulation, allowing the blower to adapt automatically to line variations.

The technology improves compatibility with recycled PET (rPET), which often shows variable properties. Adjustments can be made instantly, reducing scrap rates by up to 50% and enabling the use of a smaller oven footprint.

Before market introduction, Sidel conducted extensive field tests with long-term partner Refresco, one of the world’s largest independent beverage solution providers.

The EvoBLOW Laser will be showcased live at Drinktec 2025 (Hall A6, Booth 361), held Sept. 15–19 at the Munich Trade Fair Centre.
