U.S.-based Avient has announced the appointment of David N. Schneider (pictured) as senior vice president and president of the Specialty Engineered Materials segment, succeeding Christopher L. Pederson, who retired last June after seven years leading the business.
With more than 30 years of experience in high-performance materials—mainly acquired at 3M, where he headed the Electronics Materials Solutions division—Schneider has held positions of increasing responsibility across multiple sectors, including semiconductors, automotive, electronics and healthcare.
He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from North Dakota State University and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
Avient was established in 2020 following PolyOne’s acquisition of Clariant’s masterbatch business and the company’s simultaneous rebranding. Its portfolio includes colorants, advanced composites, functional additives, engineered polymers and Dyneema, the high-tenacity fiber known as the world’s strongest.
