Norwegian company Agilyx has finalized the acquisition of 44% of GreenDot, a European platform active in packaging waste recycling and extended producer responsibility (EPR) systems. The €7 million investment is part of a broader €27 million capital increase in the company.
The transaction—originally announced in the summer—consolidates Agilyx’s position in the sourcing and supply of feedstock for both mechanical and chemical recycling of plastic waste.
Thanks to the new capital injection, GreenDot is aiming to expand its operations in both areas while maintaining its focus on core business growth in Germany, where it expects to generate around €400 million in sales in 2025. Additional investments are planned in Italian platforms for the sorting and treatment of plastic packaging waste destined for recycling.
The company has also entered into an agreement to purchase a mechanical recycling facility in Italy, which specializes in bottle-to-bottle recycling and the production of pipes from recycled material.
In September, the company also signed a 10-year feedstock supply contract with an advanced recycling plant operating in Europe, covering volumes of 20,000 to 34,000 tonnes per year.
Laurent Auguste, CEO of GreenDot, commented: “We are very glad to welcome Agilyx as a new GreenDot shareholder. This new capital injection will support our facility expansion in Germany, Austria, and Italy, further propelling GreenDot’s commitment to scaling the European circular economy of plastic. The synergies between two market leaders that this investment creates strengthen our ability to act as a preferred partner of global brands and actors in the plastic packaging value chain.”
