Two months after it was sent to the Italian government, we have finally seen the letter of formal notice that opens infringement proceedings against Italy for failing to comply with Directive 2019/904 on single-use plastics (SUP Directive) and the EU procedural rules on internal market transparency (Directive 2015/1535).
Brussels, in particular, disputes 13 points of Italy’s transposition law of the Community Directive (DL 196/2021), in addition to the failure to notify the measure in advance to the Commission.
