Syensqo exits the Oil & Gas business

The €135 million sale to SNF supports the company’s transition to a pure-play specialty chemicals strategy.

Syensqo oli&gas businessSyensqo has finalized the divestment of its Oil & Gas business unit to the French chemical group SNF, the world’s leading producer of water-soluble, polyacrylamide-based polymers, for an enterprise value of €135 million.

The transaction, announced last October, marks a strategic step for the company. The activities sold include additives and chemicals used in drilling and cementing operations for oil wells. With 600 employees, the oil and gas division generated net sales of around €400 million last year.

“I am pleased to start the year with the completion of the divestment of the oil and gas business,” said Syensqo’s new CEO, Mike Radossich. “In addition to securing a positive outcome for all stakeholders, it advances our pure-play specialty strategy and enables us to further sharpen our strategic focus and to invest in our core businesses.”
