To the understandable satisfaction of Assobioplastiche, the Italian association representing the compostable plastics value chain, the new requirements for defining plastic tableware and other single-use products as “reusable” will enter into force in Italy in one year’s time.
The measure was first called for two years ago by the association to close a gap in the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP), which, while banning single-use tableware and straws, does not specify the technical characteristics that allow a product to be defined as reusable.
The Swiss group specialising in liquid additives and colorants for polyurethanes and thermoplastics is strengthening its leadership in the Asia-Pacific region.
