Mech-I-Tronic (MIT), the mechatronics hub set up in 2022 by Italian holding company Groupack, is continuing its acquisition campaign. Following Rotzinger PharmaPack, Apex Machine in the United States and RK Ferramentaria in Brazil have also joined the group.
Apex Machine is a US company specialising in advanced automation and printing solutions for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and packaging sectors.
RK Ferramentaria, based in Curitiba, Brazil, designs and manufactures injection moulds for food packaging, single-use products, plastic cutlery and closures for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors. Together, the two companies generate revenue of around €25 million.
Since its creation, the Mech-I-Tronic hub has expanded progressively, reaching 15 federated brands and aggregate revenue of more than €260 million, with 1,400 employees.
Among the companies operating in the plastics sector are Italy’s Union Extrusion and Tecom, both active in extrusion, and two French injection mould manufacturers, SMP Moules and Ermo, in addition to the recent acquisition of RK Ferramentaria.

The group is expanding its North Carolina site to support growth in liquid colours and additives for thermoplastics and polyurethanes.
