Klöckner Pentaplast launches search for new CEO

Michael Zacka takes over on an interim basis after Roberto Villaquiran retires from the packaging industry.

Michael Zacka klockner pentaplastAfter completing its financial restructuring process at the end of January (read article), global rigid and flexible packaging films producer Klöckner Pentaplast has begun searching for a new CEO.

Since June 22, Michael Zacka (pictured), a current member of the Board of Directors, has taken over the company on an interim basis, replacing Roberto Villaquiran, who has decided to retire after 42 years in the packaging industry.

“Over the past year, Klöckner Pentaplast has transformed its balance sheet, establishing a strong financial foundation and enhancing its ability to better meet the evolving needs of its customers,” said Andrew Berlin, Chairman of the Board. “The Company’s next CEO will be responsible for building on our momentum and leveraging our competitive advantages to drive continued innovation for customers worldwide.”

Michael Zacka has more than 30 years of leadership experience across the consumer goods, packaging and industrial sectors. His most recent role was President of EMEA and Asia Pacific at Amcor, where he was responsible for a portfolio of businesses with revenues of more than €5 billion across more than 30 countries, 80 manufacturing sites and more than 19,000 employees.

klockner pentaplast brazil plantZacka, the company said in a statement, has a solid track record of driving transformations and creating shareholder value through operational excellence, innovation and disciplined capital allocation, including leading major restructurings, post-M&A integrations and divestitures.
As Chief Commercial Officer of Amcor, he led global commercial and sustainability strategies, helping position the company as an industry leader in recyclable and reusable packaging.

Before joining Amcor, he held senior leadership roles at Tetra Pak in North America and Asia Pacific. He serves on the board and audit committee of Nouryon and holds a Bachelor of Business from Griffith University, along with executive education from IMD and Ashridge Business School.

Founded in 1965, Klöckner Pentaplast operates 27 plants in 16 countries and employs more than 5,000 people. Its portfolio includes films for rigid and flexible packaging and specialty films.
