China’s premier plastics and rubber trade show, Chinaplas, held this year in Shenzhen (alternating with Shanghai), welcomed 281,206 visitors over four days—up from the 248,222 recorded two years ago at the same venue, though below last year's Shanghai edition, which saw a record-breaking 321,879 attendees.

International participation was strong, with more than 68,000 professionals attending from abroad, making up just under a quarter of total footfall. More than 4,200 exhibitors from around 40 countries were on hand to welcome them, spread across a vast 380,000-square-meter exhibition space.

It was a full house—though not without its gaps. Several leading Chinese injection molding machine manufacturers, along with a few European ones, chose to skip this year’s event.
Industry insiders attribute the absences to frustration over the show's annual frequency, which some companies see as too closely spaced. Many are now advocating for a single biennial edition, ideally hosted in Shanghai.

Notably, Haitian used the Chinaplas dates to host an open-house event at its new high-automation facility, drawing more than 3,000 global guests.

Despite some grumbling, Chinaplas once again confirmed its dominance—not just as Asia’s largest plastics show, but also the world’s biggest by visitor and exhibitor count. However, in terms of global prestige, Düsseldorf’s K Show still reigns supreme.

The next edition of Chinaplas will be held in Shanghai from April 21 to 24, 2026.
