Martin Hitchin (center in the photo), CEO of Rehau for the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, has been unanimously elected president of the British Plastics Federation (BPF), the trade association representing the UK plastics industry.
He succeeds Nigel Flowers of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag (right in the photo), who completed his two-year term.

“I am extremely pleased to have Martin Hitchin as the new president of the British Plastics Federation,” commented BPF Director Philip Law (left in the photo). “He has had a distinguished career and is an invaluable member of the BPF Council. I am sure that he will play a key role in ensuring the BPF continues to provide value to its members while supporting the wider industry.”

Hitchin has worked in the manufacturing and construction sector for 35 years. He joined Rehau in 1988 and worked his way up, being appointed CEO in 2007. He is also the vice chair of the New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE), a start-up engineering university in Hereford.

The election took place during the BPF’s 90th annual general meeting. The association currently counts more than 600 member companies, including 54 new members who joined last year.
