LyondellBasell and Italy’s Polynt are collaborating on lower-impact composite resins for the marine sector that use mass-balance-certified ISCC PLUS Styrene +LC, produced from bio-based or circular raw materials.

By switching to biocircular feedstocks, the partners say, the boating industry can slash Scope 3 emissions while preserving the reliability and quality demanded by shipyards.

The low-carbon styrene supplied by LyondellBasell is a key ingredient in the composite resins used to build boats and luxury yachts. “Our +LC solutions offer a reduced carbon footprint compared with our equivalent products sourced from fossil-based feedstocks, helping businesses like Polynt achieve their sustainability targets while maintaining the high quality their customers expect,” notes Francesca Faranda, senior account manager at LyondellBasell.
