A Milan court has placed Corepla under judicial administration for one year over alleged shortcomings in its oversight of Synextra, a plastic waste sorting and recovery operator under investigation.
Corepla itself is not under criminal investigation.

Judicial administration is a preventive measure under Italian law. In Corepla’s case, the court-appointed administrator will supervise and support the consortium’s management without replacing it.

According to the court, Corepla may have unintentionally facilitated Synextra’s activities through weaknesses in monitoring, internal controls and organisational safeguards. Investigators are examining the alleged improper handling of at least 240,000 tonnes of plastic waste between 2023 and 2025, with an alleged profit to Synextra of at least €58.3 million.

The allegations have not been established by a final court ruling.

Corepla said it will fully cooperate with the authorities and stressed that operations will continue as normal. The court-appointed administrator will work alongside the consortium’s existing management.
