Nachmann opens to private equity

F&P Equity Partners takes control of the historic Italian supplier of chemical specialties for plastics and composites.

November 13, 2025 12:21

deal generic imageMilan-based private equity firm F&P Equity Partners has acquired a majority stake in Nachmann, the long-established Italian producer and distributor of chemical specialties for the processing of plastics, rubber, composites, coatings and other industrial applications.

To carry out the deal, a newco was established to acquire all shares previously held by the Cotilli family, the company’s former owner. The newco is now 60% owned by F&P Equity Partners, through an investment vehicle backed by a group of mainly industrial investors, and 40% by the Cotilli family.

According to a company statement, the deal is aimed at accelerating the company’s growth, including through M&A transactions, R&D investments and international market expansion.

“This transaction opens up concrete and exciting growth opportunities for our company,” said Mario Cotilli, president of Nachmann. “The new ownership structure enables us to speed up the transformation and expansion of our group and seize the many opportunities emerging in our sectors, which are evolving rapidly both technologically and in terms of market dynamics.”

Founded in 1975, Nachmann is an international group headquartered in Milan, with production facilities in Northern Italy and Thailand, specializing in the formulation and distribution of chemical specialties. With consolidated revenues exceeding €40 million in 2024, the company operates in two core segments: Friction, through its subsidiary Quartz, which manufactures metallic sulphides for brake pads used in industrial vehicles and trains; and Plastics, Composites and Greases, focused on additives and chemical specialties for the plastics industry, composites, greases and industrial lubricants.
