generic warehouse source: Envato under licenceGerman group Biesterfeld has acquired full control of its Italian joint ventures active in the distribution of plastics and specialty chemicals, Biesterfeld Polybass and Biesterfeld Polychem.

Biesterfeld Polybass was established in 1997 to distribute engineering polymers and thermoset elastomers in Italy, while Biesterfeld Polychem, a more recent venture set up in 2011 with the same partners, markets specialty chemicals in the country, including plasticizers, antioxidants and flame retardants for plastics.

Paola Bassignana - founder of Polybass, which later became part of Biesterfeld Polybass - together with Alfredo Sonzini and Giacomo Sonzini, will remain with the company until the end of 2026, ensuring a smooth transition.
Claudio Giorio, Managing Director of Biesterfeld Polybass, and Roberto Calvi, Head of Sales and Business Manager of Biesterfeld Polychem, will continue to lead the companies in their respective roles.

“Italy has always been a strategically important market for Biesterfeld, and we are deeply grateful for the nearly 30 years of successful collaboration through our Joint Ventures,” said Stephan Glander, CEO of Biesterfeld. “Together, we have built a strong market position and created lasting value for our customers and partners.”
