The Italian chemical workers' unions are troubled by the decision, communicated by Versalis, to halt polyethylene production lines at the Ragusa site in Sicily for 50 days, from September to December, without any planned predictive or scheduled maintenance, solely to reduce inventory levels.
However, a spokesperson for the chemical company informed us that one production line is operating at reduced capacity due to market conditions, and demand is being closely monitored.
