ICIS expands plastics market intelligence with AMI dataset

The acquisition adds downstream analysis of virgin and recycled polymers, compounds, masterbatch and additives.

ICIS says the acquisition will strengthen its supply and demand expertise while broadening its downstream analysis of the use of virgin and recycled polymers, compounds, masterbatch and additives.

Established in 1986, AMI has extensive experience in consultancy, market intelligence and data collection for the plastics industry. By integrating AMI’s downstream analysis into the ICIS Supply & Demand Database, ICIS will provide data on plastics production, consumption and applications from a single source, enabling a better understanding of how changes in sectors such as packaging, automotive and energy translate into final polymer demand.

Granular, validated data will be available on how polymers are used in key processes, including injection moulding, extrusion and compounding, ICIS adds. The integration of the datasets will also provide deeper visibility into growth areas such as flexible films and circular plastics, supporting more informed decisions on pricing, sourcing, investment and strategy.

“Customers increasingly need a complete view of polymer markets, not just supply, but how demand is evolving at a granular level,” says Dean Curtis, CEO and Managing Director of ICIS. “By integrating AMI’s data into our supply and demand expertise, we are enabling customers to better understand where the market is moving and make decisions with greater confidence.”
