The Italian company Recupero Etico Sostenibile (RES) continues its plan to enhance recycling activities in Pozzilli, Molise, by entering the end-of-life vehicle recovery and recycling sector with its new RES Up Cycling division.

Local authorities have granted authorization to repurpose the former Fonderghisa industrial site, enabling the management of up to 7,500 tons of materials annually from about 6,000 vehicles, employing 22 people for the project.
The site, which covers approximately 40,000 square meters, 13,000 of which are indoors, will require an investment of about 2.5 million euros. Work is expected to begin by the end of the month, with the goal of starting recycling operations by the second half of 2026.

The recovery process, the company explains, will begin with vehicle frames at the end of their life, utilizing an automated line equipped with tools for handling heavier parts. Dismantling will remove environmentally harmful parts (such as batteries, lubricants, and residual fuels) and continue with the disassembly of individual vehicle components using robots and cobots. The recovery of plastic components will follow this process.

The recovered materials from the vehicle demolition—thermoplastics, polyurethane, coatings, and interiors—will be treated and recycled through both mechanical and chemical processes, while the non-reusable portion will be sent to other disposal plants managed by the Molise-based group.

"RES aims to be at the forefront of the radical revolution that will transform vehicle production processes and the management of the end-of-life vehicle (ELV) treatment chain," commented CEO Antonio Lucio Valerio. "The primary goal of our project is to integrate recovery, recycling, and disposal processes with other company activities, maximizing material reuse and minimizing environmental impact."

Founded in 1989, RES leads a group that manages the entire waste process—from selection to treatment and transformation—focused on regeneration, recycling, and reuse of waste as raw materials. The company's operations are concentrated in three centers: Pozzilli, Tufo Colonoco, and Pettoranello del Molise, all in central Italy, covering the entire waste chain except collection.
