ENI exits cracking as it invests €2 billion in Versalis

Shutdown of Brindisi and Priolo crackers, the last remaining, and polyethylene production in Ragusa announced. A new corporate structure is on the way.

vetsalis petrolchimicoItalian energy giant ENI has unveiled a transformation, decarbonization, and relaunch plan for Versalis, its chemicals company, while promising to provide further details during its third-quarter financial report on Oct. 25.

The plan, set to conclude in 2029, includes an investment of approximately €2 billion in Versalis over the next five years, alongside the closure of the last remaining steam cracking units in Brindisi and Priolo, as well as the polyethylene production in Ragusa.
