The French manufacturer of PET and rPET preforms, SGT, headquartered in Rezé, has acquired fellow French company Axium Packaging, further solidifying its presence in the European plastic packaging market.

The acquisition of Axium Packaging gives SGT Group access to new expertise, particularly in injection molding and extrusion blow molding, while expanding its product portfolio.

Founded in 1968, Axium Packaging comprises six companies and production facilities, including Silte in Italy, which was acquired in 2023. The company specializes in the production of jars, bottles, and caps made from virgin and recycled PET and polypropylene (rPP), catering to the hygiene and beauty, agri-food, and household product markets. With 385 employees and facilities in France, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Germany, the company achieved a turnover of €76 million last year.

Operating since 1981, SGT specializes in the production of PET and rPET preforms and polyethylene caps for the food and beverage market. In 2019, through its subsidiary SGR, the french group launched a PET recycling plant that produces high-quality rPET under the Cirpet brand.
In addition to its two plants in France, located in Rezé and Chalon-sur-Saône, SGT operates production sites in Algeria specializing in PET preforms and HDPE caps. In 2023, the group recorded a turnover exceeding €300 million.
