The search giant Google announced it has removed all plastic from the packaging of its Pixel phones, Nest smart home products, and Fitbit smartwatches, replacing remaining technical components, such as shrink films, tapes, and labels, with "fiber-based alternatives" like molded fiber pulp and paper.

By working with its packaging suppliers, the U.S.-based tech giant achieved this goal a year ahead of the target set four years ago. “Not only did we reach our goal early, but we also set a new design standard along the way: beautiful packaging that’s easy to recycle”, the company stated.

The box is made from cardboard that is three times stronger and lighter, while protection for the devices inside comes from molded fibrous pulp made from recycled newspaper. The speckled appearance complements the box’s finish.
