Sigit, an Italian automotive components manufacturer and part of the Soag (Sigit Oman Automotive Group), will launch a new production facility in the industrial zone of Sétif in northeastern Algeria. The project is a partnership with Siplast, a state-owned Algerian company specializing in plastics processing and a subsidiary of the ENPC (Entreprise Nationale des Produits Chimiques) group.

According to Algeria’s Ministry of Industry, which played a key role in facilitating the deal, the initiative represents a concrete step toward greater integration of the country’s automotive supply chain as part of a broader national industrialization strategy.
“The agreement is part of the ministry’s efforts to localize key strategic industries in Algeria and promote tangible integration in the automotive sector,” the Algerian government stated in an official release.

The Siplast-Sigit economic interest group will manufacture a range of automotive components — from bumpers and dashboards to seals and interior parts — with the goal of reducing dependence on imported parts, creating skilled jobs and developing an industrial ecosystem capable of meeting the needs of both existing and future automakers operating in the North African country.
