The German plastics processor Renolit continues its restructuring efforts with the sale of its French subsidiary Renolit Ondex (pictured) to the American Industrial Acquisition Corporation (AIAC) and the closure of its Italian site, Renolit Tecno Imac, in Rome.

Both companies belong to Renolit’s Roof & Water Care division and are involved in the production and distribution of roofs and cladding made from biaxially oriented plastic sheets, as well as roof sheets, gutters and pipes.

Renolit Ondex, part of the group since 2006, employs around 100 people in Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur, near Dijon. Renolit Tecno Imac has a staff of 13 in Rome, where the company manages commercial operations, warehousing and limited production activities—most of which had already been relocated to the French plant. The Italian subsidiary was acquired in October 2018 with the aim of expanding into the DIY segment.

“Our One Renolit 2025 strategy aims to achieve a top-three position in our key markets,” said Karsten Jänicke, chairman of the board at Renolit. “At Renolit Ondex, we expect a positive development overall, but not a market-leading position. In addition, hardly any synergies could be realized between the two companies and our company group. We have therefore decided to sell the site in France and close the site in Rome.”

Commenting on the Italian closure, Renaat Demeulemeester, general manager of the Roof & Water Care division, added: “We regret this unavoidable step and greatly appreciate the hard work and commitment of our Italian employees. We will provide the affected employees with the best possible support as they transition to a new professional future.”

Earlier in March, Renolit had already decided to consolidate its operations in Worms and Frankenthal into a single site in Worms, where the group is also headquartered.
