Ecobat, the Texas-based global battery recycling group, has sold its Italian operations in lead and polypropylene recovery from automotive batteries to Haiki+ for a total of €22.9 million, officially exiting the Italian market.
The deal includes Ecobat Resources Italy and its subsidiary Politec, along with three recycling facilities located in Marcianise, Paderno Dugnano, and Pieve di Cento.
The plastic recycling and compounding operations are based at the Pieve di Cento (near Bologna) site, managed by Politec, which Ecobat had acquired in 2018.
The transferred businesses recorded a production value of €96.7 million in 2024, nearly doubling the previous year’s €50 million.
With this acquisition, Haiki+ becomes the leading integrated lead production group in Italy, consolidating its role in the circular economy by fully managing the entire lead-acid battery recycling chain—from collection to the recovery and refining of lead and plastic.
Controlled by Innovatec, Haiki+ now owns around ten recycling and waste treatment facilities across the country, with an annual processing capacity exceeding 600,000 tonnes. In 2024, the group reported revenues of €205 million. Since January, Haiki+ has been listed on Euronext Growth Milan (EGM), the Italian stock exchange segment dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises.
