In a move counter to the ongoing wave of cracker closures across Europe, Ineos has announced it will invest €250 million to upgrade and improve the efficiency of its cracker in Lavera, France — in addition to the ongoing Project One in Antwerp. The goal is to enhance reliability, optimize operations, and reduce emissions.
The project will be implemented with the support of the French government and financial backing from BNP Paribas and ING. According to the British chemical group, this marks the first phase of “a broader regeneration plan aimed at strengthening the long-term competitiveness and sustainability of the Lavera complex.”
