Italian group Piovan has completed a new plant in San Felice sul Panaro, in the Emilia-Romagna region, dedicated to technologies for the handling and treatment of food ingredients and industrial powders, as part of its Food & Powders business unit.
Scheduled to begin operations next autumn, the new facility will expand Food & Powders’ manufacturing footprint from 5,000 to 14,000 square metres, with room for further growth in line with the Group’s long-term vision.
At the time of opening, the site will employ around 100 people, with further workforce expansion expected in the following years. Recruitment is currently under way for several positions, including project manager, site manager, sales engineer, mechanical designers, electronic designers and software developers.
The opening of the new production hub will also strengthen Research & Development through a dedicated testing room with a dual function: on the one hand, pilot plants that will allow customers to carry out trials using their own ingredients; on the other, a space designed for innovation and the development of new products.
“The new production plant represents a key step in the development and growth path of the Food & Powders division,” says Alessandro Sala (pictured), CEO of the division. “It will provide spaces suited to the new revenue volumes, optimise production flow and present an image aligned with Group standards, while also offering a modern and welcoming working environment.”
Piovan entered food processing technologies in 2015 with the acquisition of Penta, based in Emilia. In 2019, it acquired Fea Process & Technological Plants, leading to the creation of the Food & Powders division in May 2025 and, at the end of the same year, the addition of Modena-based BHT. This expansion has taken revenues from €2 million to around €60 million.
