German financial group Aequita has completed the acquisition of LyondellBasell’s European olefins and polyolefins operations, creating the new company Velogy.
The assets involved are the petrochemical sites in Berre, France; Münchsmünster, Germany; Carrington, United Kingdom; and Tarragona, Spain. The Brindisi site remained outside the scope of the transaction.
The deal covers two crackers and four polymer plants, with more than 1,700 employees and revenue of around €2.5 billion.
In Tarragona, LyondellBasell will continue to operate through Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS), the business linked to masterbatches and compounds.
The group is expanding its North Carolina site to support growth in liquid colours and additives for thermoplastics and polyurethanes.
