Glass Fibre Europe, the association representing European glass fiber producers, has welcomed the European Commission's decision to introduce provisional anti-dumping measures for imports of glass fiber yarns from China.
A 56% duty has been imposed, with the exception of one Chinese producer who is subject to a 26.3% duty.

The association had previously called for an anti-dumping investigation, convinced that Chinese producers were engaging in unfair practices, undercutting prices, and harming the European industry.

Since the European Commission launched the anti-dumping investigation on Feb. 17, Chinese-origin glass fiber yarn imports have actually increased. "Following the Notice of Initiation, which alerted Chinese exporters and their EU importers to serious dumping allegations, these players began stockpiling Chinese glass fiber yarns in the EU," says Cédric Janssens, the association’s secretary general. "This practice has exacerbated the difficulties faced by the EU industry, making it imperative to implement provisional measures to protect fair competition while the investigation is ongoing."

European glass fiber producers are now calling on the Commission to confirm the anti-dumping duties and take further steps to fully restore a level playing field with Chinese companies.
